NatWest Speed Stars

For the sixth consecutive summer NatWest will stage Speed Stars, their nationwide search to find the new Andrew Flintoff or Steve Harmison.

Speed Stars offers wannabe bowlers the chance to measure their pace in front of ECB coaches at NatWest road shows across the country.

The fastest four bowlers in each of the four categories, adults, Under 18s, 15s and 12s, for both men and women, will be invited to the ECB National Academy at Loughborough for a coaching clinic with an England bowler and to compete in the finals this September.

Last year Scott Myers from Hampshire in the Under-18 boys category proved to be the fastest of all the bowlers with an impressive speed of 74 mph.

"It's fantastic seeing people getting involved in the NatWest Speed Stars, and it's encouraging to see some of the speeds being produced by these young bowlers," said England's Sajid Mahmood, who helped coach the finalists at Loughborough. "I am getting worried about my England place ... a 12 year old has just bowled 60mph!"
